Paisley

Earlier this year, Ina Henning and Wallace Halliday commissioned me to write a piece for accordion and saxophone in honour of the virtuoso accordion teacher and performer, Joseph Macerollo, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.  The celebratory concert and performance on September 30 at Walter Hall at the University of Toronto was a very moving and gracious event and I felt blessed to have been a part of it. My thanks to Ina and Wallace for a stunning performance of Paisley.

Paisley was written in July-August at Gallery 345, Toronto, for which I thank Edward Epstein. It is based on 11 pitches of Domenico Scarlatti’s 30th keyboard sonata.
